What Is Embossed Stainless Steel Sheet?

Elevator Interiors

Vertical-line and fine-pattern embossed sheets are standard in elevator cabs. The texture hides fingerprints from daily use far better than mirror, while the raised lines add a premium architectural feel under LED lighting.

Limitations and Care

Pattern direction matters. Vertical-line embossed panels have a visible direction. Adjacent panels must be installed with grain running the same way, or the wall looks patchy.

Not all patterns work on all gauges. Deep patterns need thicker sheet; very fine patterns can disappear on thin sheet under forming pressure. Confirm pattern-gauge compatibility with the mill.

PVD color over embossing is best done after forming. Colored embossed sheet is PVD-coated after pressing; the color sits on the raised surface too. Check coverage on deep patterns.

Welding embossed joints is tricky. Raised patterns make flush welded seams hard to hide. Use concealed joints, trim profiles or shadow gaps instead of visible welds.

Cleaning — wipe with mild soap and water; the raised pattern can trap dust in grooves, so a soft brush or microfiber works better than plain wiping.
